Purpose
The origin of the Personal Finance Project can be traced back to Owl Investment Group, President, Danny Tang ‘07, and her belief that every student at BMC should have a basic knowledge of personal finance. As she argued, “Bryn Mawr has a swim test as a requisite for survival, but what about having a basic knowledge of personal finance? Indeed, it is more likely that within the lifetime following Bryn Mawr, a alumni is more likely to be drowning in ‘debt’ rather than actual water! To prepare students for the obstacles of the scary world of reality, OIG agreed to sponsor the Personal Finance Project which would be headed by, Danny Tang, and two enthusiastic women from the class of 2010, Alyssa Martin, and Anna Mathew. And so the PFP was born with a desire to instill in students a stronger understanding of personal finance. Within this undertaking, however, came a strong desire to dispel any misconceptions about this project. That’s why we created this blog to provide you with resources and information that will give you a better understanding about what we’re all about!
